FOWLER Road Locomotive “THE LION”

The well known example of a Fowler B6 type heavy haulage road locomotive.
Built new during the First World War, “The Lion” operated in France during the conflict before entering civilian ownership, latterly joining various heavy haulage firms, including Pickfords.
3 speeds, compound cylinders, sprung front and rear and fitted with rubber tyres. Electric lighting via a Stones Turbo (steam turbine) generator set.
With current boiler certificates.
A truly magnificent machine with an excellent pedigree.
FOWLER Special Sprung (Showmans) Road Locomotive
No.7857 by John Fowler & Co., Leeds Ltd.
Built with full showmans fittings, dynamo and bollard crane.
This interesting and newly discovered engine was reputedly ordered in 1896 by the showman T. Taylor of Grimsburg, Northants, as a ‘special’ 3 speed sprung A4 class road loco, uniquely fitted with dynamo platform and dynamo, full-length canopy and right-hand mounted ‘bollard crane’.
Available for sale in ‘as found’ unrestored condition.
