This single cylinder reversable marine engine has a handsome cast iron backstand frame and is fitted with Stephenson type link reversing gear. Piston valve and suitable for a steam launch of around 20 – 35 Ft Length.

A reversing marine engine with tandem compound cylinders, Stephenson slotted link valve gear,
crosshead-driven feed pumps, lubrication system, draincocks and mahogany lagging.
This very rare engine by Simpson Dennison of Dartmouth was built 1885, prior to the company name change to Simpson Strickland & Co.
