Thought to be by A.G. Mumford, Colchester, c1910.
5″ + 10″ x 8″ Cylinders with Slide Valves.
Stephenson link reversing gear.
Twin air pumps and boiler feed pumps.
Approx 42″ High, Bed 40″ Long x 18″ Wide.
A very well made Mumford engine probably designed for a small steam yacht. For sale in good, original condition.

This is an extremely rare, vane type reversable steam engine of around 4 – 5 H.P. believed made to Outridges patent in the mid 1880’s.
Designed for small, high speed river launches, these rotaty engines were claimed to provide an excellent power to weight ratio and to achieve the then unheard of speed of 12 1/4 m.p.h!
