MERRYWEATHER Steam Fire Pump
2½ NHP Single Cylinder
No. 34240 ~ Built 1923
This very attractive small portable by Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies is of the desirable 2½ NHP size, making it easily transportable. A later example, this unusual engine was built along Ruston Hornsby lines (Ruston worked together with Ransomes as fellow members of the A.E.G.). Originally exported to South Africa where it spent it’s working life, this engine is complete with a rear wheel brake (not fitted) and Pickering governor.
Carefully restored to a very high standard to the last few years, this engine is now well presented and includes small details such as a chimney lever bar and chains, etc.
A very nice, highly original and complete example of a Merryweather & Sons hand-drawn portable steam fire pump.
